EAS was selected by the Yakama Nation to conduct a safety assessment along a stretch of the Methow River between Twisp and Carlton, Washington. The project was conducted to evaluate river conditions, recreational use, and hazards utilizing proven research techniques. The data was collected to inform fish habitat restoration projects, which can include the placement of woody debris or other habitat features in the river. EAS compiled publicly available river information, researched search and rescue resources in the area, conducted in-person recreational surveys, conducted online recreational surveys, analyzed motion-activated camera images to characterize usage of the river, and performed on-water assessments of river hazards at various river flow levels.
