Recently, EAS staff have completed several wetland delineations for our clients.  The purpose of a wetland delineation is to establish the presence, location, conservation value, and size of a wetland, to ensure compliance to federal, state, and local regulations.  Our scientists look at vegetation types and structure, soil characteristics, and hydrologic activity in order to determine if a wetland exists, and if so, map out its boundaries.  We provide clients with a ranking of the category of the wetland being delineated, a map showing the boundary of the wetland along with the required buffer zone for the specific wetland category, and associated GIS shapefiles.  Wetland delineations are vital in determining necessary buffer zones to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, and provide sound science to help our clients navigate regulations designed to protect wetlands and achieve compliance on their projects.
