In 2020 EAS completed a research study testing the short-term effects of crude oil exposure and removal of oil on leopard frogs (Lithobates pipiens). New funding will allow for the continued research examining longer-term impacts of oil exposure.
Amphibians are particularly susceptible to damage from environmental exposure due to their porous skin. EAS’s research will help to fill data gaps on the potential impacts crude oil has on amphibian health and will aid wildlife workers in making decisions regarding amphibian response during oil spills.
