Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) is the largest regionalized military base in the Department of Defense. It consists primarily of four distinct properties, JBSA-Lackland, -Fort Sam Houston, -Randolph, and -Camp Bullis, but also includes eight other operating locations. The Air Force is the lead agency for JBSA and its more than 200 mission partners or tenant activities.
Under contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District, EAS is assisting the Air Force with its environmental compliance requirements at JBSA, as well as at Sheppard Air Force Base (AFB) in Wichita Falls, Texas. In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) NEPA regulations, and the Air Force Environmental Impact Analysis Process (EIAP), EAS is coordinating the EIAP and supporting the preparation of six environmental assessments (EAs). The EAs will evaluate the potential environmental, cultural, and socioeconomic impacts at JBSA and Sheppard AFB.
